Nancy – Assistant Director – Albuquerque, New Mexico
Life is funny sometimes. When I was in college I had a friend, Mike, he was vegetarian and he would attempt to get me to eat his way. However, I made those remarks we hear often such as, “I’m not a rabbit” or “I need meat.” Who knew that 35 years later, here I am a vegan. I was a vegetarian when this same friend, Mike, visited me here in NM. I asked him the difference between vegetarian and vegan and I’ve been vegan ever since.
What I’ve learned is that, the only reason mentioned to me for becoming vegetarian or vegan was for your health. But this time I was informed about the animals. The animals suffering made a difference in my heart and, vegan, I am. I have a vegan blog and have written a vegan’s children’s book, “What Does Vegan Mean,” in order to further veganism in the world.
I’m also a ballroom dancer – I host a Fusion Tea Dance once a month in Albuquerque where the food served is vegan.
I look to the day when the whole world is vegan and everyone’s compassionate heart has come forth.
